He has recently relocated from Sydney to Melbourne. He practices privately through at Epworth Hospital in Melbourne, and through Orthosports offices at Randwick and Concord in Sydney. Dr Spelman completed his medical degree at Monash University and subsequently completed his orthopaedic training in public hospitals throughout New South Wales. He has a Masters degree in Sports Medicine from The University of Queensland. Dr Spelman’s post fellowship training focused on management of hip and knee disorders and trauma surgery across all ages. He undertook a fellowship at Prince of Wales Hospital (Sydney) with focus on hip and knee replacement surgery and sports knee surgery. He undertook further advanced training at The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne as the hip and sports fellow, and at Westmead Children’s Hospital Sydney focusing on paediatric hip conditions and limb reconstruction. Dr Spelman is passionate about working collaboratively with his patients to achieve the best health outcomes. He will take the time to understand your individual needs and concerns, and will ensure any proposed treatment plan addresses those needs. Dr Spelman provides holistic care and works collaboratively with other health professionals including physiotherapists and sports medicine physicians. Outside of work, Dr Spelman spends the majority of his time preventing his children from becoming his patients. He is an avid skier, die hard Brisbane Broncos supporter and Geelong Football Club tragic.
